Bimini does Brit-pop on debut single ‘God Save This Queen’

It’s a Bimini Bon Banger!

Drag Race UK break-out star, queen of lewks, admiree of Katie Price, and author Bimini Bon Boulash has revealed their long-awaited debut single, “God Save This Queen”.

Channelling the late 90s and 00s, the Brit-pop and punk inspired single recalls Pulp, Lily Allen and The Streets, with Bimini delivering a non-binary anthem for today’s generation.

The East London queen proved they could write a killer verse on season two single “UK, Hun?”, and the new track touches on growing up working class, toxic masculinity, and – of course – being a plant-based princess.

The song, which features lines like, ”Fragile masculinity won’t get you very far / Throughout all of history it’s left too many scars ,” arrives two months after a Bimini mural in their hometown of Norwich painted by a trans activist was sadly vandalised.

Speaking to Gay Times, Bimini said the single felt ”therapeutic. It’s putting my fingers back up to the people that made me feel like shit.”

In the video, directed by Kassandra Powell, Bimini dances in drag surrounded by construction workers, straddles a motorbike naked from the waist down, and shows off one of their coveted Drag Race runway looks.

In iconic Bimini fashion, they sign off with, “I don’t know about you, but I’m off to get a falafel wrap.

Watch Bimini talk us through their biggest fashion inspirations and 00s pop-culture in their Dazed Cult Vault.
