Dressed in an all-leather outfit with a flame design, Nas put on a devilishly good performance (which involved neck licking) before an enthusiastic squat saw him rip his seams. “NOT MY PANTS RIPPED ON LIVE ON TV,” a mortified Nas posted on Twitter. “i wanted to do my pole routine so bad this what i get lmaoo”. Ever the consummate professional, the “Old Town Road” hitmaker carried on with the show, flawlessly executing the choreography and styling out the split by covering his crotch with his hands. Nas later explained: “At first i was afraid to even perform. then we rehearsed for 2 weeks, then all of the dancers got removed because one had covid and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours, and then i ended up ripping my pants and couldn’t finish. everything happens for a reason tho lol.” The rapper has – predictably – been upsetting certain demographics with his subversive take on religious iconography and unabashed sexuality. The “Montero” video saw him lap dancing for the devil after sliding down a pole into the pits of hell, then there was his (recalled) ‘satan shoe’ sneaker filled with actual human blood. Addressing his conservative critics, Nas said: “Me sliding down a CGI pole isn’t what’s destroying society.” In other Lil Nas X news, a collaboration with Ru Paul’s Drag Race season 13 winner Symone could be on the cards, after she posted “Ready when you are,” in response to a fan asking when the reigning queen and Nas would work together.
