Beabadoobee shares ‘Last Day On Earth’ from upcoming EP with The 1975

The group’s Matty Healy and George Daniel have produced and co-written the new project, Our Extended Play

Beabadoobee has announced a forthcoming EP, Our Extended Play, co-written and produced by Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975

Ahead of the project’s spring release, Beabadoobee has also shared one of the new tracks with her fellow Dirty Hit musicians, titled “Last Day On Earth”, which arrives alongside a new music video (watch below).

“‘Last Day on Earth’ is about all the things I would have done had I known we were going into a lockdown and the world was going to change the way it has,” says the musician in a press release. “It was written shortly after the first main lockdown and lyrically it’s me reflecting on how it would feel if we all knew ahead of time what was going to happen. All the things I would have done if I knew it was the last day of our old normality.”

She adds that she wrote and recorded the EP with Healy and Daniel on a farm in the countryside, saying: “It was really nice being able to create together, my first time writing and recording in that kind of setting.”

“I wanted to experiment on the sounds and sonics even more and the EP to me has a feeling of togetherness to it… how we’re all in this joined as one.”

Last year saw the release of Beabadoobee’s debut album, Fake It Flowers, which ranked among Dazed’s favourite albums of 2020. The musician also shared songwriting tips with fans as part of a Dazed 100 songwriting workshop, alongside fellow Dazed 100er Joy Crookes, and Pretty Sick’s Sabrina Fuentes.
