Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood will score the Princess Diana biopic, Spencer

Kristen Stewart will star in the upcoming film, directed by Pablo Larraín

Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead is set to score the upcoming Princess Diana biopic, Spencer. Directed by Pablo Larraín, the film will feature Kristen Stewart in the titular role, and explores Diana’s failing relationship with Prince Charles over three days at the royal family’s Sandringham Estate.

The news of Greenwood’s involvement follows the release of a first-look photo of Kristen Stewart as Diana. “I always thought this person was stolen from us and I always had a curiosity about her,” the actor said in an interview last year. “Every day that I unfold this story the more emotionally invested I get.”

Greenwood has previously released soundtracks for the Joaquin Phoenix-starring hitman thriller You Were Never Really Here and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread (having collaborated with the director on several films, including the 2015 documentary Junun). In 2019, meanwhile, he launched the classical music label Octatonic.

Larraín has previously enlisted Nicolás Jaar to score 2019’s Ema, while Under the Skin composer Mica Levi provided the music for his 2016 biopic Jackie, on former first lady Jackie Kennedy.

Spencer has started production, and is slated for release in autumn 2021.
