James Blake teases a new project, Before

The musician has also shared a release date for the upcoming music

James Blake has hinted at the release of new music, in the form of a project titled Before. In a recent Instagram story, Blake shares a UK and US phone number that, when called, points fans to beforeep.com (an address that redirects to the musician’s website, which itself displays a countdown to October 14).

Another social media post – shared via Boiler Room – shows a poster promoting the project, seeming to confirm the October 14 release date.

James Blake’s last full-length record, Assume Form, was released in 2019, although during coronavirus lockdowns he’s treated us to covers of Frank Ocean and Billie Eilish, as well as a performance of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You”.

Last month, the cover of Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed” – which apparently proved particularly popular – got an official release, shortly before Blake also appeared on slowthai’s new track, “feel away”.
