On Wednesday (August 26), former congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine tweeted, “America needs far more women like Melania Trump and far less like Cardi B”. In response, Cardi replied, “Didn’t she used to sell that Wap?”, referring to Melania Trump’s history as a model in explicit photo shoots. Conservatives have criticised Cardi’s song “WAP” since it was released earlier this month, while praising Trump for her recent speech at the Republican National Convention.
