Its almost-explicit video quickly racked up millions of views on YouTube, led to a conservative outcry, and even earned crticism from Tiger King’s Carole Baskin over its use of big cats. It’s also had an impact in another area, too. On August 10, Pornhub released data insights revealing that “WAP” has been on its users’ minds. Searches for ‘Cardi B’ – already the site’s third most searched for celebrity in 2019 – rose by 235 per cent. On August 12, they revised this figure up to 1574 per cent. Interest in Megan Thee Stallion rose first to 210 per cent, then to 363 per cent above average. Kylie Jenner, who made a controversial appearance in the video, also saw a rise of 130 per cent to 252 per cent. People really are horny for those celebs.
