Jaden Smith announces an upcoming mixtape with new track ‘Cabin Fever’

The third installment of the rapper’s Cool Tape series is on the way

Jaden Smith has announced the upcoming release of a new mixtape, Cool Tape Volume 3 (the successor to the first two installments of his The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape series, naturally).

Along with the announcement, the LA-based rapper has also premiered a new song, “Cabin Fever”, which he describes as: “my vision of a quarantine love song… It’s made to be listened to when the sun is setting and you’re feeling good.”

Cool Tape Volume 3 (or CTV3) will be Smith’s first full-length release since the 2019 album ERYS, which followed his 2017 debut album SYRE, and featured artists including Tyler, the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi, and his sister, Willow.

“It’s like the tape is what makes it clear to my fans that this is coming directly after Cool Tape Volume 2, opposed to coming after ERYS or after SYRE,” he told Zane Lowe in a recent interview for Apple Music. “This is directly after Cool Tape Volume 2, so it’s in that slot.”

“And if you’re a fan of me for a long, long time, you do feel like there is that little gap that we missed.”

The mixtape’s release date is yet to be revealed, but the new track, “Cabin Fever”, is available to stream. Watch the visualizer below. Alternatively, revisit Jaden Smith’s Dazed Faves interview from 2019, in which he talks about his love for sustainability, TED talks, and more.
