Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she suffered a gunshot wound during an altercation that took place early on Sunday morning (July 12). In a statement shared to Instagram, the Houston rapper says she’s “incredibly grateful to be alive”, adding: “I’m expected to make a full recovery.”
The statement also aims to “set the record straight” following reports that Meg was present at the time of Tory Lanez’s arrest on a gun charge, which occurred around 4.30am on Sunday morning, in the Hollywood Hills.
A July 13 TMZ report claimed that police responded to a disturbance outside a residence and witnessed people arguing in an SUV before shots were fired. Initially, it was thought that Meg’s foot was injured by broken glass on the floor of the vehicle.
“The narrative that is being reported about Sunday’s morning events are (sic) inaccurate,” reads Meg’s statement. “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
“I was never arrested, the police officers drove me to the hospital where I underwent surgery to remove the bullets... I’m currently focused on my recovery, so I can return back to my life and back to making music as soon as possible.”
Since it was first published, TMZ’s report has also been updated to explain that police listed Meg as a “victim” in the incident.
