Filmed during coronavirus lockdown, the glitchy, distorted video accompanies the Venezualan producer’s track “Mequetrefe”, released June 17. In a recent statement about the video posted to Instagram, Arca calls its production: “one of the most alchemical transformative processes I've ever experienced making a video.” “We did our best to lovingly, and with care, conceive and produce the video over the course of lockdown,” she continues, “in times when creating sometimes felt like a leap of faith!” Arca also released a fourth single from KiCk i – the Rosalía-featuring “KLK” – this week, on June 22. The full album is due to be released June 26, and will also feature collaborations with Shygirl, SOPHIE, and Björk. The other previous singles from KiCk i, “Nonbinary” and “Time”, came with visuals released back in late April and mid-May, respectively. The announcement of the album itself followed the 62-minute single “@@@@@”, which at the time was Arca’s first official new music since 2017. Watch “Mequetrefe” below. Escape the algorithm!
