Hosted by Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, the event is intended as “a celebration of the incredible work done by organizers and activists around the world, and will be a chance to reflect, regroup and talk about next steps”. Black Power Live’s lineup boasts some big names, too, including Doja Cat and Dev Hynes (aka Blood Orange), who will perform “on solo piano”. Kamasi Washington is slated to make an appearance alongside Denzel Curry, as well as serpentwithfeet, while poets and activists such as Emma Gonzalez are also going to be taking the virtual stage. Funds raised from the Twitch stream, meanwhile, will benefit organisations involved in current and ongoing anti-racism efforts, such as Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Sankofa, Transgender Law Center, Trap Heals, and Black Men Build.
