Watch Charli XCX’s fan-shot video for ‘Forever’

The visuals follow an open call for videos of pets, scenes from quarantine, and fun memories

Last week (April 10), Charli XCX shared an Instagram post asking fans for help with the video for her latest song, “Forever”. The post came with some vague instructions for clips (e.g. share a fun memory, or your pet) as well as some more specific ones, and it’s safe to say that the fans did not disappoint.

The result – edited by filmmaker Dan Streit and released April 17 – is a tapestry of cute quarantine scenes alongside some much-needed escapism, taking you on a virtual tour of people’s homes (until it begins to feel more like one, big, collective home) and favourite moments shared in their phones.

Charli XCX has also opened “Forever” up to fans by providing the stems for the track on social media and inviting people to share their remixes. The cover art was up for interpretation as well, with three official selections (including one by Caroline Polachek).

Besides giving people something to do during coronavirus lockdown, this reflects the singer’s open and intimate approach to her forthcoming album, how i’m feeling now, which was announced from self isolation (April 6).

The full album is due May 15. Watch “Forever” below.
