Cardi B is donating $1,000 per hour to support fans amid coronavirus

‘I’m going to make sure you really do need it, so don’t be lying so you can lend your fucking boyfriend some money’

Last month, Cardi B announced that she would be donating the profits from her chart-topping track “Coronavirus” to those left struggling from the COVID-19 crisis. Now, the rapper’s giving away up to $1,000 per hour (!) until May 20 (that’s $1 million in total) – and she’s accepting submissions.

In an Instagram post, Cardi announced that she’ll be reading each submission herself before selecting people to support on a daily basis. The only requirement is that you make your Insta account public, presumably so she can check out your grid. “I’m going to make sure you really do need it,” she warned. “So don’t be lying so you can lend your fucking boyfriend some money.” She added: “Don’t be shy. Sometimes you gotta motherfucking ask for help.”

Cardi’s not the only celebrity donating cash to help people affected by the coronavirus crisis. Last month, Taylor Swift surpirsed four fans with $3,000 each, while others, including Rihanna and Kanye West, have donated funds, meals, and medical supplies to benefit those who are most affected, both in terms of health and finances.

Musicians such as Christine and the QueensCharli XCX, and James Blake have also been spreading positive vibes to isolated fans via livestreams on Instagram. Oh, and Lizzo is playing the flute.
