Earlier this month, HAIM announced the third studio album we’ve been waiting for, having spent 2019 releasing singles that will be featured on the record. Now, however, the band has announced that they will be pushing back the April 24 release date of the record, due to coronavirus.
“We’re on day 11 of quarantine which has given us a lot of time to think,” reads HAIM’s statement about the delay, posted to Instagram. “We’ve been talking every day for hours about our upcoming album and how we want to present it to you guys.”
“Due to everything that is going on with COVID-19 and the changing nature of travel policies and quarantines across the world, we’ve decided it is best to postpone the release of Women in Music Pt. III, to later this summer.”
The specific summer release date has not yet been revealed, though new tunes are apparently on the way in the interim.
“This wasn’t an easy decision for us at all,” the statement adds. “But, the health and safety of our fans, crew and team is our #1 concern.”
Other album releases that have been impacted by the pandemic include Lady Gaga’s Chromatica, with the singer explaining that the decision was “incredibly tough” in an announcement published March 24.
Huge festivals have also had to be cancelled or rescheduled in response to the virus, including Glastonbury and Coachella, and many tours have been put on hold as countries ban events and public gatherings.
