M.I.A. returns with new song ‘OHMNI 202091’

The track arrives four years on from her last album

M.I.A. has made good on her promise to release new music with “OHMNI 202091”.

Earlier this year, M.I.A. started a Patreon account to “open up the conversation with my fans” and “get back to using the internet in a positive way”. Subscribers could get access to “short films, clips, and video diaries”, as well as “random surprise content... a song, a recipe, a manifesto”.

While her previous posts have been non-musical, her latest upload is “OHMNI 202091”. What’s more, the track is available for free, not behind a paywall, so anybody can listen to it.

“Free music to get you the fuck up outta bed!” M.I.A. tweeted. “Here’s the beginning. New M.I.A. M.I.A W2020 4 COV19.”

M.I.A.’s last album was 2016’s AIM, but she has put out a couple of tracks since then, including “P.O.W.A.” and the previously unreleased 2004 track “Reload”.

Listen to the track on Patreon.
