Beastie Boys Story was first teased in January with a 40-second trailer showing old footage of group members Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, Michael “Mike D” Diamond, and the late Adam “MCA” Yauch. Older images of the band were cut with footage from the 2019 stage production (also directed by Jonze) that the documentary is based off. That stage show was itself based off a memoir by Mike D and Ad-Rock. The new trailer expands on this concept, with archive imagery mixed with voiceovers of Mike D and Ad-Rock on-stage discussing the origins of the band and the impact of MCA both on their work and as their friend. The documentary will be released to IMAX cinemas on April 3 before landing on Apple TV+ on April 24. Watch the trailer below.
