For its 15th anniversary, the London-based electronic label has teamed up with Analogue Editions to produce a label-branded special edition of the classic 90s console the Sega Mega Drive – or the Genesis, as it was known in North America. With it comes Konsolation, a compilation of exclusive new tracks from 11 Hyperdub artists including Burial, on a Sega cartridge. It will not be available in any other format or on streaming services. The elusive London producer kicks off the collection with a new track called “Starlore”, which is followed by cuts from Ikonika, Jessy Lanza, Lee Gamble, Cooly G, DJ Taye, Kode9 and more. The package, featuring the console, the music cartridge and some other goodies, is available for $249.99 and is limited to 1,000 units. Analogue Editions reproduce classic game consoles in a modernised style, with wireless controls and the ability to play retro games in high definition. The one-of-a-kind Hyperdub item follows the company’s collaboration with Ghostly International last year, in which they produced a special edition Super Nintendo that has now sold out. You’d better get your order in for the Analogue Editions x Hyperdub console before the Burial stans snap them all up. Escape the algorithm!
