MusicNewsKanye West appears with Kim Kardashian in the video for ‘Closed on Sunday’The couple are joined by their children and extended family members Kris Jenner and Kourtney KardashianShareLink copied ✔️November 29, 2019MusicNewsTextDaisy Schofield Self-described ‘Christian Billionaire’ Kanye West goes back to nature in the “Closed on Sunday” music video, appearing alongside Kim Kardashian and their children North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm in a barren, post-apocalyptic landscape. Alluding to some very Kardashian traits, Kanye sings: “Hold your selfies / Put the ’gram away” as the family wander over rocks in what appears to be the rapper’s sprawling Wyoming ranch. Momager Kris Jenner also makes an appearance in the video, stepping out of an army tank looking somewhat overdressed in a fur coat and diamond earrings, bewildered at the surroundings. Later shots see the camera pan out to Kanye’s extended family, among them Kourtney Kardashian and The World Famous Tony Williams, and his father, Ray Williams, who appeared in Kanye’s video for “Follow God” in similarly vast, beautiful scenery. Not forgetting, of course, the usual Yeezy entourage of gospel singers, who join the family in the group shot. The song, which is the latest track from Kanye’s much-delayed gospel album Jesus is King, includes multiple references to fast-food chain Chick-fil-A, traditionally closed on Sundays and Thanksgiving, which happens to be the day of the video’s release. Speaking about the song at Joel Olsteen’s megachurch in Houston recently, Kanye said: “It’s talking about protecting your kids from the indoctrination of the media, the thousands and thousands of images that are fed to children by the age of six or seven.” He continued: “Within those images, there are images mixed in that we don't know about as parents that are purposely mixed in, to lower the kid's superpower and esteem.” Watch the video below, and revisit our verdict on Jesus Is King.
