Now, in a series of tweets, the rapper has responded to fans’ reaction to his surprise guest. Writing in all caps, Tyler said: “I thought bringing one of the biggest artist (sic) on the fucking planet to a music festival was fire! But flipside, a lil tone deaf knowing the specific crowd it drew. Some created a narrative in their head and acted out like assholes when it didn’t come true and I don’t fuck with that.” In a now-viral video from the festival, Drake says to the audience, “I’m here for you tonight. If you want me to keep going, I will keep going,” before the crowd responds with booing and cries of ‘no’. The rapper then leaves the stage after concluding: “It’s been love, I go by the name of Drake, thank you for having me.” Fans at camp flog gnaw were expecting that Frank ocean was gonna be the surprise guest headliner... they got drake instead.. safe to say... they rather Frank ocean pic.twitter.com/2Y5qo4SLfZ— DJ Akademiks (@Akademiks) November 11, 2019 Drake had been booked as the surprise guest at Tyler’s eighth annual Camp Flog Gnaw, but fans were reportedly disappointed after believing Frank Ocean was set to make an appearance. Continuing his response on Twitter, Tyler criticised the members of the crowd who were booing. “Mostly everyone was having a great time,” he wrote, “those shits in the front area were the ones being mad rude, which, I can see why, but, nah, fuck that, yall represented me and Flog to my guest and made us look sooo entitled and trash.” He continued, “that shit was like mob mentality and cancel culture in real life and I think that shit is fucking trash”, before changing his mind and saying: “But hey man shit happens, all jokes aside shit lowkey funny hahaha, aside from that, hope everyone had a good time.” I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE FUCKING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE! BUT FLIPSIDE, A LIL TONE DEAF KNOWING THE SPECIFIC CROWD IT DREW. SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE ASSHOLES WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT FUCK WITH THAT— Tyler, The Creator (@tylerthecreator) November 11, 2019 Drake also saw the funny side, posting a photo on Instagram with the caption: “Plot twist… just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw sorry kids see you EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30.” Underneath the image, Tyler commented: “THIS IS TRUE YALL DID THIS.” This isn’t the first time Tyler’s fans have derailed one of his shows. In the summer, the rapper tried to perform a surprise pop up gig in London, but had to cancel after too many people turned up. Escape the algorithm!
