Kanye West hangs out with his dad in the video for ‘Follow God’

Thankfully, they’re more chilled out in Wyoming than in the lyrics of the song from Jesus Is King

I was screamin’ at my dad he told me it ain’t Christ-like,” raps Kanye West in the third track off his newest, much-delayed album, Jesus Is King. Luckily, the video for “Follow God” released last night (November 8) sees his relationship with his dad running a bit more smoothly.

Tbh, that might have something to do with the fact they’re driving around one of Kanye’s Wyoming ranches in a variety of all terrain vehicles. Can’t really have a screaming match in a snowmobile, can you?

Obviously, this also means that the scenery is vast and beautiful, with Kanye bopping about in an orange hoodie and miming the scream he uses when he throws a tantrum (or talks to Jesus, according to “I Am A God” off 2013’s more-blasphemous Yeezus).

At the end of the video, white text on a blue background – all a part of Ye’s very low fi aesthetic, alongside his new merch with big WordArt vibes – explains: “My dad came to visit me at one of our ranches in Cody, Wyoming.”

“He talked about his love for fishing, and how he would like to come here in the summers. It took me 42 years to realize my dad was my best friend.”

“He asked me, ‘How many acres is this?’ I told him 4000. He replied with these three words: ‘A black man?’”
