It’s the singer’s first solo track of 2019
Selena Gomez is back with a new single, “Lose You to Love Me”.
“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” Gomez said in a press release. “I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”
The track – her first solo release of 2019 – was written by Gomez with Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter, and produced by Finneas (Billie Eilish’s brother and producer) and Mattman & Robin.
The “Lose You to Love Me” video, directed by Sophie Muller, shows Gomez singing directly to the camera, boxed within in a picture frame. The intimate video was shot entirely on an iPhone.
Gomez released her last album, Revival, in 2015, although she’s released a string of non-album singles since then, including 2017’s “Fetish”. This year she acted in Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die and teamed with with J. Balvin, Tainy, and Benny Blanco for “I Can’t Get Enough”.
