In a new interview for American channel We TV’s Untold Stories of Hip Hop, the rapper said she would never forget the incident. “The photographer was trying to get close to me, like, ‘You want to get into this magazine?’,” Cardi detailed. “Then he pulled his dick out. I was so fucking mad.” When asked by the interviewer how she handled the situation, Cardi said, “I was like, ‘You’re fucking bugging’,” before miming packing up her belongings and leaving the shoot. The musician also explained that the publication took no action despite being informed about the incident. “You know what’s so crazy,” recalled Cardi, “I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, ‘So? And?’” Referencing the #MeToo movement – which gained momentum after The New York Times exposed countless cases of sexual abuse by Harvey Weinstein – the rapper continued: “There’s girls from the hood who went through the same type of treatment. They make you feel like you have to do a certain type of thing for the most bullshit shit. It really happens everyday.” When questioned about whether she still experiences that kind of harassment, Cardi said: “Oh hell no, I’ll put you on blast on my Instagram.” Premiering on Thursday, Untold Stories of Hip Hop will also reportedly see Cardi discuss motherhood, her relationship with Offset, and her time working as a stripper. The rapper drew on this past experience for Hustlers, a film based on a true story about a group of strippers who conned Wall Street workers. Also starring J-Lo, Crazy Rich Asians’ Constance Wu, and Lizzo, the film hit cinemas on September 13. Watch the We TV clip below.
