Lizzo’s performance at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards proved that she’s once again 100 per cent that bitch. The American singer, who was nominated for Best New Artist, slayed her performances of “Truth Hurts” and “Good As Hell” off her 2019 album Cuz I Love You, which she released back in April. En brande as usual, Lizzo performed in front of an enormous inflatable ass, naturally. Elsewhere, her backup dancers wore assless leggings, begging the question, is this now a thing?
The Houston-based artist has come a long way from her flute-filled days as a Youtube performer. Her third studio album, Cuz I Love You, includes a guest appearance by Video Vanguard recipient Missy Elliott on track “Tempo”. She told Dazed previously: “Missy Elliott is one of my biggest musical inspirations, and working with her helped me to see myself. Being able to help more young girls see themselves through it is just a full circle moment.”
Next month, the 31-year-old will star alongside Cardi B and Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers, an upcoming film about strippers scamming their Wall Street clients.
