Lana Del Rey releases a new Norman Fucking Rockwell trailer

Surfing, lo-fi sunsets, and Disney-esque animation – what’s not to love?

Thought the new Lana Del Rey album details – released July 31 – were a treat? Well prepare yourselves, because a day later (August 1) she released a trailer too, and it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect (and all the better for it).

The Norman Fucking Rockwell trailer was posted to LDR’s Instagram and everyone’s predictably buzzed. Why wouldn’t they be? There’s lo-fi sunsets over the ocean – with a poetic voiceover – alongside footage of Lana surfing with a bodybuilder, only to fall off and reveal the greenscreen behind. There’s footage of Lana actually surfing and denim shorts with “Lust” and “Wrath” patches on the back pockets. There’s hand-held footage of (presumably) California, with Disney-style animations added in.

Of course, there are also snippets of the album’s songs, too, which were revealed in a tracklist along with the release date (August 30) and the album cover, which features Lana and the actor Duke Nicholson (Jack Nicholson’s grandson) on a boat.

Finally, the trailer also gives a nod to Chuck Grant (Lana’s sister) and Rich Lee, who have shot videos for some of the tracks.
