Just last year he released several new songs – including the score for a Blade Runner animated short: Blade Runner Blackout 2022 – scored an episode of Donald Glover’s Atlanta with frequent collaborator Thundercat, and agreed to score and executive-produce a new Netflix anime, Yasuke, starring the voice of Get Out and Atlanta's Lakeith Stanfield. In 2017, his debut feature film, Kuso, provoked walkouts at Sundance for being “the grossest movie ever made”. At this year’s SXSW, though, teaser visuals have suggested yet another project from FlyLo. Simple black text sprayed on the ground in Austin, Texas, reads: “Fire is coming… Flying Lotus”. oooo boy @flyinglotus teasing new shit at SXSW pic.twitter.com/xdpdiaV6fT— connor (@connor_soup) March 15, 2019 It’s obviously a pretty bare bones teaser, with something slightly Lynchian about it (the musician remixed the Twin Peaks theme in 2017 and has cited Lynch as a big inspiration). Initially posted on Twitter, it was then retweeted by FlyLo himself, but with no extra info. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store. Whatever it is, it’s definitely likely to be, well... fire.
