Lana Del Rey teased in an Instagram video that she could be releasing a new song next week, as early as January 8, 2019. “I think I’m putting a song out January 8, but I’m not one thousand percent on it,” the goddess of song and style said on Instagram Live, before adding: “Yep, maybe the 8th.” It’s not the most robust announcement of new music, but elsewhere in the live stream Rey says that her upcoming record, Norman Fucking Rockwell, is “finished”. In September, Rey announced details of the new album and debuted “Venice Bitch”, a 10-minute single from the record. A video for the surfy song (below) was released on September 18. The singer also played a handful of new songs at a benefit concert hosted by pop producer and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff, who also produced Rey’s upcoming album, on December 6 in New York. Rey described the tracks as “country”, but hinted at the gig that the tracks were made “just for fun”, according to fans, and wouldn’t make the new record. Norman Fucking Rockwell is expected to be released on March 29, 2019, but if Rey’s video is to be our guide, we’ll have a new song in just a week. Happy New Year! Escape the algorithm!
