Both West and 6ix9ine were inside the Beverly Hills mansion when it was targeted – filming for a song from the latter’s new album – while Minaj was scheduled to arrive later. Luckily, no one was hurt. Witnesses reported around eight shots were fired and 50 Cent later posted a picture of a bullet hole in the window with the caption: “Now somebody done shot my son video up in LA. Kanye was like (running emoji).” Though the motive of the attackers is still unclear, it’s not the first time 6ix9ine has been targeted by gunshots; in August shots were fired during his video shoot with 50 Cent, and in October his bodyguard was shot in Manhattan. The rapper’s manager was later charged with gang assault in connection with the shooting. Even without his habit of being shot at, though, working with 6ix9ine is to walk on thin ice. Nicki Minaj already drew criticism for working with the rapper, who previously pleaded guilty to one felony count of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance, on a single earlier in the year. Adding Kanye’s controversial voice into the mix surely isn’t going to help appease her disappointed fans, either. Escape the algorithm!
