Cat Power and Lana Del Rey team up for new song ‘Woman’

Listen to the first single from Chan Marshall’s new album Wanderer

Cat Power’s upcoming tenth album is called Wanderer. Earlier this year she released a one-minute acapella of its title track, and now the album’s first proper single is here.

“Woman” features a vocal performance from Lana Del Rey and is a slice of pure Americana stylistically, but it’s presented through a modern lens in both lyrics and production. Del Rey provides additional vocals on the song, emphasised in its “wo-man” chorus.

Wanderer is Cat Power (real name Chan Marshall)’s first new album in six years. It was written and recorded in Miami and Los Angeles over the past few years and arrives on October 5 via Domino. As a press release explains, the album captures the journey of American folk and blues singers from previous generations. “They were all wanderers, and I am lucky to be among them,” Marshall says.

Cat Power will tour the album from September. Check out full dates here.
