Rihanna drops hints about new music in her Instagram comments

‘She’s coming sis!’

It’s been a hot minute since Rihanna released her last album ANTI, and, let’s be honest, we’re gasping for another one. Gone are the days where RiRi would pop an album of bangers every year without fail, and the drawn out ANTI campaign, while fruitful in the end, was a trying time.

In Rihanna’s defence, she’s hardly been slacking. The 30-year-old has her Fenty Puma range, her Fenty Beauty line, and now her SAVAGE X FENTY lingerie line, which is reported by Buzzfeed to be a subscription service. She’s also hopped on songs with N.E.R.D and DJ Khaled.

Still, it comes as a blessing that Rihanna has now started to tease the long-awaited #R9. Sharing the announcement of her lingerie line on Instagram, fans, while excited, were quick to jump in the comments to demand new music. Responding, Rihanna plainly answered, “she coming sis!”

She also responded to another fan who asked if she had forgotten her music career. “HOW!” she wrote. “Y’all would never let me Lolol.”

Rihanna’s Insta-teasing comes as rumours have been flying about the follow up to 2016’s ANTI. According to a report by, the singer is plotting the release of two (!) albums this year — one, a more commercial pop project, and the other, an experimental and moody record.

“Rihanna wasn’t happy with how her last album performed,” a source said. “Even though she loved how it turned out, she knows she needs a new project full of smash hits to avoid two back-to-back flops.”

Being real, ANTI was anything but a flop – the album has been certified 3x Platinum in the U.S. and it’s spent over 200 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart since its release – so this report is all a bit suspect, but the idea of two Rihanna albums being released this year is a concept too thrilling not to get excited by. And regardless, the good sis Rihanna has confirmed that new music is on the way soon. So we’ll just be here, face beat with Fenty Beauty, while we wait for it to drop.
