The Swedish director is working on a feature-length film about Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, and has lured in singer (and Twin Peaks reboot star) Sky Ferreira to act in the project. The film, titled Lords of Chaos, will look back on the controversial history of the group. This includes their ritualistic church burnings, and the mysterious murder of guitarist Øystein Aarseth by Burzum guitarist Varg Vikernes. According to reports on Deadline, Rory Culkin, Emory Cohen and Jack Kilmer have also been cast in the project – though there’s no details yet on who will be playing who. There’s also scant info on when the film will be released, but as it's currently classified as “pre-production” we’ve probably got a while to wait. Åkerland’s previous directing credits include the 2002 movie Spun, which starred Brittany Murphy and Jason Schwartzman, and the 2012 black comedy Small Apartments.
