A Seat At The Table is Solange’s first solo full-length since 2008’s Sol-Angel and the Hadley St Dreams, although she did release the very well-received True EP in 2012, which established her with an alternative music audience. The album features a range of guest artists, from big names like Kelly Rowland, Lil Wayne and The-Dream to singers associated with underground and alternative music scenes like Kelela and Sampha. Backing vocals come from artists close to Solange’s world, like True collaborator Dev Hynes, as well as beloved R&B singer Tweet and cult Canadian songwriter Sean Nicholas Savage. Besides announcing the album, Solange has also revealed an interactive album booklet on her website. More than just some typical liner notes, the booklet features 112 pages of lyrics and photography laid out in a very unconventional way. Also on the website: a form for fans to receive... something (it’s very mysterious, although apparently all the places have been reserved either way), and a video that changes each time you visit the website. Check out the album’s artwork above, and some photos from the book and its full track-listing below.
