The Discovery Channel is launching a six-part series called Hello! World that presents the natural wonders of our planet aided by the music and narration of pop heavyweights such as Usher, Ellie Goulding, Christina Aguilera and Joan Jett. Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” will be used to soundtrack an episode about animals that struggle with a bad rep – perhaps great white sharks, skunks and vultures? Christina Aguilera, who says that she’s delighted to have been asked to do voiceover work for the show, will have her song “Light Up The Sky” used on an episode about the maternal habits of mountain goats and cheetahs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Usher’s “Stronger” will be used on an episode about particularly resilient animals, namely the sea turtle and the red fox. “Not many people may know of my strong affinity for animals and nature,” he told THR. “Hello World! gave me an opportunity to not only look cool to my boys, but also help introduce a new and modern way of learning about the world and the animals living within it.” The six-episode series kicks off on July 9 and runs for three weeks.
