Rose McGowan is a busy woman. The Doom Generation actress went behind the camera last year for her directorial debut Dawn and since then has maintained her campaign for gender equality in Hollywood. Today she’s released a stunning video in collaboration with director Jonas Åkerlund, styled by B Åkerlund and premiered on Nowness. The song, called "RM486", is McGowan’s first offical foray into music.
"RM486" places McGowan in front of the camera, morphing through different styles and aesthetics, a representation of the artist’s ever-changing attitudes and ambition. "Not only did I not fit in, I didn’t want to fit in," she told Nowness. McGowan borrows some famous material from Blade Runner, the words uttered by Roy Batty, the leader of the Nexus-6 replicants played by Rutger Hauer.
"I’ve seen things that people can’t imagine," McGowan whispers. "Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; I watched c-beams glitter in the dark. All those moments will be lost, in time, like tears in rain. Time to die."
The rest of the video sees McGowan explore her personality through an assortment of different, beautifully styled costumes. Watch "RM486" below.
