Nick HaymesMusic / NewsTinashe drops new mixtapeAmethyst features production from Ryan HemsworthShareLink copied ✔️March 16, 2015MusicNewsText Thomas Gorton Tinashe has followed up last year's debut record Aquarius with a mixtape called Amethyst, a seven track collection of songs reportedly recorded in her bedroom over the Christmas holidays. The mixtape features production from Ryan Hemsworth, the producer who recently reviewed a load of sensitive tracks for Dazed and told us exactly how sad they made him feel. Producers Iamsu and Ritz Reynolds also lend their abilities to the record. The lo-fi, dusty production sits perfectly behind Tinashe's lovelorn vocal that peaks wonderfully throughout amongst smatterings of tasteful Auto-Tune. Amethyst takes its name from Tinashe's birth stone, another link to the month she was born in – Aquarius is her star sign. Tinashe is currently recording her second record with DJ Mustard and just last week pulled out of her support slot on Iggy Azalea's Great Escape tour. If she's got material like this to give away, expect big things from the next instalment. Amethyst is currently streaming on Hot New Hip Hop, listen here. Escape the algorithm!
