Death Row Records founder Suge Knight was reportedly behind the wheel of a truck that killed a 55-year old man yesterday. According to TMZ, Knight arrived on the set of Straight Outta Compton, the upcoming NWA biopic featuring Dr Dre and Ice Cube. He then became embroiled in a heated argument with two men and allegedly killed one in a hit-and-run. He has now handed himself in at Sheriff's West Hollywood Station.

In a police press conference, officers said they believe that two altercations took place – one on the Straight Outta Compton set and another in the car park of a burger restaurant. According to witnesses at the car park, Knight got behind the wheel of his truck and reversed over a man, killing him. That man has been named as Terry Carter. Knight then fled the scene.

Speaking to AP, Knight's attorney assured the reporter that the incident was an accident. "We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated," said attorney James E Blatt.

Despite his lawyer's assertion, police are said to be treating the incident as a murder. Prior to Knight handing himself in, police released warnings that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Lt. John Corina told reporters: "Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims and drove forwards and struck them again. The people we talked to say it looked like it was an intentional act."

The other victim involved in this incident is reportedly Training Day actor Cle "Bone" Sloane, but his injuries are non-life threatening.

Suge Knight, real name Marion, is no stranger to controversy. For many years, urban myths have lingered that Knight was involved in the deaths of rap legends Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. Just last year, Knight was shot six times at a party in LA hosted by Chris Brown, but lived to tell the tale. This alleged hit and run may prove a more difficult situation to escape.
