Radiohead are officially back in the studio

Jonny Greenwood announces that the band are working on their new album

Attention, Radiohead fans: a new album is definitely on the way. After teasing plans that the band were going to start recording at the end of the year, Jonny Greenwood has confirmed that the group are back in the studio working on a follow-up to 2011's King of Limbs

"I’m late, they’ve all gone there now," Greenwood joked in an interview with BBC Radio Oxford (scroll to the 01:37:37 mark). "We're currently playing and recording. It's fun to see everyone again, it's been a long time coming."

Greenwood added that the band still haven't decided on a direction for their new record. "I always feel as when we start up like we still don’t know really how to do it, and we don’t know quite what to do," he said. "'Looking down avenues' is a very kind way of putting the kind of fumbling that we do, mainly because every time we try and do it like the last time because that worked, it never seems to work. So we talk about different approaches and we’re currently trying a bunch out."

Since the release of King of Limbs, Thom Yorke has kept himself busy with solo work including October's surprise BitTorrent release Tomorrow's Modern Boxes. Jonny Greenwood has continued composing for film, with his newest work including scoring Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming Inherent Vice adaptation. Meanwhile, drummer Philip Selway released his second solo album Weatherhouse this year and Colin Greenwood made an unexpected performance at the Dries Van Noten SS14 show
