World famous stoner, ceramic ashtray muse, slogan t-shirt inspiration and reggae musician Bob Marley has been chosen as the face of Marley Natural, as announced by his family and the Seattle-based firm behind the company on NBC Today.
Marley Natural will offer "heirloom Jamaican cannabis strains" as well as Marley paraphernalia (just in case the world ever runs out). It'll also sell weed-infused creams and lotions made with Jamaican botanicals, all inspired by Marley. The company will also sell printed t-shirts with the slogan "Smoke Like A Marley".
Bob Marley died in 1981 after melanoma spread to his lungs and brain. Any doubts about how the avowedly anti-capitalist activist would feel about Marley Natural were laid to rest by his wife Rita, who said: "You can depend on Bob, too. He’s 100 percent behind what is happening. He’s happy because this is what we dreamed of."
Bob Marley reportedly smoked around a pound of marijuana a week, which in modern day weight systems, is loads. Now, his love for "the herb" will be spread across all places in the world where it is legal to grow and distribute the plant. All the products will be packaged by Heckler Associates, the company responsible for packaging Starbucks and New Balance, so all Marley Natural products, actual weed or otherwise, should come to the customer in neat and tidy fashion.
"This is what the end of prohibition looks like," said Brendan Kennedy, the CEO of Privateer Holdings, which owns Marley Natural. "Bob Marley started to push for legalization more than 50 years ago. We're going to help him finish it."
