Music / First LookPional – Invisible AmenazaExclusive: Stream the darkly melodic debut EP from the Jon Talabot collaboratorShareLink copied ✔️October 29, 2013MusicFirst LookTextFlora Yin-Wong Perhaps best known for his collaborative work with Spanish musician John Talabot on his haunting tracks “Destiny" and "So Will Be Now" on the much-lauded ƒIN album, Madrid-based producer Pional (aka Miguel Barros) is now returning to his solo productions. His first outing was the stunning A Moot Point EP on Talabot’s Hivern Discs label, and he has since reworked the likes of How To Dress Well’s "& It Was U" and The xx’s "Chained". He toured with Talabot alongside the latter – a perfect fit given Barros’s soft bittersweet vocals, emotive piano keys and distorted drum machines. His new Invisible Amenaza EP, lands on cult label Young Turks (FKA Twigs, Sampha), and collects four tracks of his signature melancholic pop vocals and slow disco-influenced house jams. Translating as ‘invisible threat’, it showcases his taste for dark nostalgic sounds and a unique ear for melody on his vocal-led pieces. We can't wait to hear more.
