Earlier this year we announced the launch of Dazed Middle East and North Africa (MENA), a new publication led by a team of creative talent from across the MENA region helmed by editor-in-chief Ahmad Swaid. Now, to tie in with the launch of Dazed MENA, we’re publishing our first ever Dazed 100 MENA list to spotlight 100 trailblazers from the region. The Dazed 100 has always been about pushing youth culture forward. Dazed 100 alumni have gone on to win Grammys, lead influential fashion brands, receive Oscar nominations, and even make history. Our new Dazed MENA list is no different and features inspiring creatives, dedicated athletes, and powerful activists, each carefully selected by the Dazed MENA team. In the fashion category we're spolighting stylist and creative consultant Dogi (AKA Dogukan Nesanir), pioneering designer Elias Riadi, and creative director Salim Azzam. The list also features some of the most exciting music acts from the region, such as Yasir Razak (AKA nabeel), an Iraqi-American musician blending Arabic music with shoegaze and grunge, Dua Saleh, a genre-defying Sudanese-American music artist, and DJ Gawad, an anonymous Jordanian-Palestinian artist and producer. Plus, we’re proud to include some of the region’s leading activists and change-makers, such as counsellor and mental health advocate Aisha Mirza, archivist and visual artist Evar Hussayni, and Palestinian journalist Bisan Owda. That’s not all: we’ve also included up-and-coming talent blazing trails in entertainment, art and photography, and more. Check out the full list here.
