Ever since Gretchen Wieners first uttered the iconic line, “I don’t think my father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be too pleased to hear about this,” the Toaster Strudel has become a crucial part of Mean Girls lore, usually uttered in the same breath as Kalteen bars, Danny DeVito, Jingle Bell Rock, and Glen Coco.
To celebrate 16 years since the film’s release, Pillsbury (the brand behind said Toaster Strudels) has released a limited edition Mean Girls version of its product, featuring Gretchen on the packaging and pink icing, because on Wednesdays, we eat Toaster Strudels.
“We’re thrilled to bring this limited-edition Mean Girls product and sweepstakes to fans everywhere, especially for all the not-so-regular, but cool moms out there,” said General Mills senior brand experience planner Keavy O’Malley Keyes in a press release, referencing Amy Poehler’s legendary role as Mrs George.
Pillsbury also announced ‘The Most Fetch Toaster Strudel Icing Sweepstakes’, a competition where contestants can submit their best icing designs to win a personalised video message from Lacey Chabert (AKA Gretchen), one year’s worth of Toaster Strudel, and Mean Girls merchandise – so get drawing or you can’t sit with us.
