Berghain is cancelling all events amid coronavirus fears

Even a pandemic virus can’t get in

Berghain has announced the cancellation of “all previously announced self-produced club events”, amid fears about the coronavirus pandemic. For now, the Berlin club intends to reopen its doors April 20.

The decision comes “on occasion of the current health situation and in the best health interest of our staff, artists and guests,” explains a statement.

Although Berghain’s decision to cancel events wasn’t required by law – unlike that of many other venues in the city – it’s also not very surprising, as it follows the cancellation or rescheduling of many other events across the globe.

Coachella is one of the most high-profile disruptions caused by coronavirus, having been delayed until October, and this year’s SXSW has been shut down entirely. Elsewhere, BTS have cancelled shows, along with Madonna, and more.

Fashion has also taken a hit, with the cancellation of Gucci and Prada’s upcoming Cruise shows, along with the whole of Seoul Fashion Week.
