The result was one hell of a queer bash, complete with slippery nipples, heart-shaped lollipops, and lots of beautiful people. The venue was the two-floored Camden queer haunt Her Upstairs/Them Downstairs, with each pair of hosts taking over a floor each, complete with their own DJ lineups and colour schemes. Some of the faces that came through were James Massiah, Chris Wylie, Charles Jeffrey, Shahmir Sanni, Ryan Lo, Liam Hodges, Sussi, Wilson Oryema, and Lea Colombo. Them Downstairs turned into Tinaween-land, a sparkly silver fairytale brought to life by set designer Thomas Petherick, where purple neon lights bounced off the Jägerbombs, WKD fishbowls, and bottles of Smirnoff Ice as revellers danced away to music provided by the likes of Soho legend Lady Lloyd, Jeffrey Hinton, and DJ duos SESH GREMLINS and Scuzeme (Hi Hun). Meanwhile, at Her Upstairs, Itchy Scratchy Patchy teamed up with set designer Daisy Azis and filmmaker Camille Summers-Valli to create a video wall above a room adorned with feather plumes, a bubble machine, and more slippery nipples than is wholly necessary. Music was provided by Louie Banks (wearing one of the lewks of the night), underground icon HRH Princess Julia, and a surprise set from Soulwax’s David Deweale. This Pride season marks the second anniversary of Tinder’s More Genders feature being added to the ubiquitous dating app. This feature allowed UK users to choose from nearly 40 gender identities or add their own unique terms when setting up their profile, helping to make Tinder even more inclusive. So far, more than 25 million matches have happened while using the More Genders feature. Take a look at the galleries to see what went down at the Dazed x Tinder Pride kickoff party.
