Antoni from Queer Eye’s book might prove he can actually cook

He’s releasing 100 recipes next spring

Calling everyone who knows how to make a sandwich: you too can land a cookbook deal. Antoni Porowski, one fifth of the Fab 5 from the Netflix hit Queer Eye, will be releasing a collection of recipes in spring 2019.

The food and wine expert made the revelation in a statement he released to Entertainment Weekly that read: “I could not be more thrilled to be writing about the recipes I love and think are essential to any novice home cook, professional, and somewhere in between.”

“Antoni has an appealing vulnerability that helps him connect instantly with newbies in the kitchen,” said Rux Martin, the editorial director of the publishing company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.“But his recipes are so stylish and contemporary that they pull in sophisticates too. I was drawn to their blend of European classical approach and American accessibility.”

Now, those of you familiar with the show will remember that this is the man who breezes in after Bobby Berk redesigns an entire house, Jonathan teaches them how to love themselves, and Antoni teaches people how to cut an avocado. There’s been a lot of speculation as to whether Antoni can actually cook. This is something he alluded to in a celebratory tweet: “Avocado-stuffed pierogies for everyone!”

Bowen Yang, a writer at Vulture, wrote that Porowski makes “food a child would make when they’re old enough not to need a sitter. Any queer loves a grilled cheese, but it’s not a revelation to cut it into four triangular pieces.”

However, in an interview with GQ, Porowski explained that the show isn’t a platform for him to show off his own skills. “It's not a cooking show. It’s not about my skill set. It's about figuring out how we can contribute to the lives of these people in a very short amount of time. It has to be very fact based and in a simple way.”

So I guess this book is his chance to redeem himself. And fans are ready and waiting:
