He wrote at length about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation in the New Statesman in 2013: “Every human being has consciousness but not every human being has the same amount. The good news is, every human being has the potential for infinite consciousness. [...] The full potential of the human being is called enlightenment – infinite consciousness, infinite happiness, total fulfilment. Totality.” Tributes have poured in following Lynch’s death last week at the age of 78. Actor Kyle MacLachan wrote on Instagram: “Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision. What I saw in him was an enigmatic and intuitive man with a creative ocean bursting forth inside of him. He was in touch with something the rest of us wish we could get to.” Mulholland Drive actress Naomi Watts wrote: “It wasn’t just his art that impacted me – his wisdom, humor, and love gave me a special sense of belief in myself I’d never accessed before.” Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MOREThe story behind Bugonia, Yorgos Lanthimos’ twisted new alien comedyJosh O’Connor and Kelly Reichardt on planning the perfect art heistDazed Club is hosting a free screening of BugoniaThe Voice of Hind Rajab, a Palestinian drama moving audiences to tearsMeet the 2025 winners of the BFI & Chanel Filmmaker AwardsOobah Butler’s guide to getting rich quickRed Scare revisited: 5 radical films that Hollywood tried to banPlainclothes is a tough but tender psychosexual thrillerCillian Murphy and Little Simz on their ‘provoking’ new film, Steve‘It’s like a drug, the adrenaline’: Julia Fox’s 6 favourite horror filmsHow Benny Safdie rewrote the rules of the sports biopic Harris Dickinson’s Urchin is a magnetic study of life on the margins
