Last month, Dazed x MUBI Cinema Club returned for its new autumn season, kicking off with an unforgettable preview of Coralie Fargeat’s dark satire The Substance. Now, the season continues with an upcoming screening of Hoard, the debut feature film from the British director Luna Carmoon.

Hoard stars Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn and Saura Lightfoot Leon as a slightly feral duo who pair up on a tender, unruly quest for happiness. We join Maria (Lightfoot Leon) as a teenager, after her childhood in the care of an unconventional single mother and obsessive hoarder (played by Hayley Squires). Years later, Maria seeks to reconnect with her mother by pilfering bins for lost treasures, reawakening memories both magical and tragic.

Hoard is streaming on MUBI as part of a new season, Not Just A Girl, which offers a multi-faceted exploration of girlhood. Instead of being moulded by conventional narratives surrounding girlhood, the heroines spotlighted in this collection of films – like Maria – dare to carve out their own paths.

Earlier this week, Luna Carmoon also took home a BFI & Chanel Filmmaker Award for Creative Audacity. She’ll be on hand at the Dazed x MUBI Cinema Club screening too, for an exclusive Q and A session with writer and editor Claire Marie Healy.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, tickets are now available for the October 14 screening at Dalston’s Rio Cinema, including free popcorn and a drink. Get them here. Dazed Club members are eligible for a discounted ticket (find out more here).

Plus, early bird ticketholders will get a special gift from Underdays, a female-founded lingerie brand on a mission to redefine underwear as self-care, offering high-performing products that don’t sacrifice comfort for style. Claim an early bird ticket while stocks last!
