Watch the trailer for Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla Presley biopic

The film is based on Priscilla Presley’s 1984 memoir Elvis & Me and is set for release this October

Buckle up and get ready to head to Graceland. The trailer for Sofia Coppola's A24-produced Priscilla Presley biopic, chicly simply titled Priscilla, is finally here and it looks absolutely sumptious.

Based on Priscilla Presley’s 1984 memoir, Elvis & Me, the film follows her account of her life married to the king of rock‘n‘roll, Elvis, including intimate details of infidelity, substance abuse and their ultimate divorce in 1973.

The film, which is set for release this coming October, stars Cailee Spaeny (Vice, The Craft: Legacy) as Priscilla and Euphoria heartthrob Jacob Elordi as Elvis. Watch the trailer below.

The news that Sofia Coppola was making a film about Priscilla and Elvis Presley was first announced last year, with Coppola telling Vogue that she she was “really moved” by Priscilla’s story.

“I was just so interested in Priscilla’s story and her perspective on what it all felt like to grow up as a teenager in Graceland,” she said. “She was going through all the stages of young womanhood in such an amplified world – kind of similar to Marie Antoinette.”

Acting as an executive producer is Priscilla Presley herself, with Coppola telling Vogue that "she’s been incredibly open" about the project.

“She’s probably told these stories a million times, so I feel grateful that she’s been so patient,” Coppola added. “It’s amazing how much detail she can recall from that time in her life.”

Priscilla arrives hot on the heels of Baz Luhrmann’s glitzy Elvis biopic, which starred Austin Butler and which was nominated for eight Academy Awards. That film, however, did not focus intensely on the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla.

The film marks Sofia Coppola’s third collaboration with A24, following previously films On the Rocks and The Bling Ring. A television adaptation of Edith Wharton’s Custom of the Country is also in the works.

While the exact release date for the film remains to be seen, in a tweet A24 confirmed Priscilla will find its way to cinemas in October. See you there.
