A first look at Addison Rae in the gender-swapped She’s All That remake

She plays an influencer, of course

The first trailer for the gender-swapped remake of 1990 rom-com She’s All That is here, ahead of its August 27 Netflix release.

Starring TikToker turned pop musician Addison Rae, the remake – titled He’s All That – reverses the 90s classic’s original storyline. Now, instead of a high school jock transforming a nerdy girl into a prom queen, Rae’s character Padget (an influencer, of course) will transform a nerdy boy in school into prom king.

In the 15-second trailer, the TikToker can be seen making a bet with her friend – played by Disney’s Madison Pettis – to give a makeover to the nerdy guy in school. “Makeovers are my thing. I will create the next prom king,” says Rae in the clip. “He is a total disaster… weird, anti-social.”

Channeling Rachel Leigh Cook’s infamous role as the nerdy Laney Boggs is Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan. Cook, however, will make a cameo in the remake as Padget’s mom.

The new film was also written by She’s All That’s original writer, R. Lee Fleming Jr, and will be directed by Mean Girls and Freaky Friday’s Mark Waters – hopefully giving it the 90s feel we know and love.

In March, Rae made her music debut, releasing the single “Obsessed” alongside a dance-heavy music video. The pop track was about self-love and obsession, with production by Benny Blanco (Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran), Blake Slatkin (J Balvin, Juice Wrld), and Ryan McMahon (Halsey, the Chainsmokers).

She wore her own beauty brand, Item Beauty, in the music video – which was directed by Diane Martel, who previously worked with Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus.

Watch the “Obsessed” video below.
