Meet the Gossip Girl reboot cast, as photos and names are revealed

The characters in the hotly-anticipated series have finally been announced

Back in November, the cast of the forthcoming Gossip Girl reboot were spotted on the steps of the MET, filming at the original show’s most iconic location. The BTS photos offered the first glimpse at the new stars of our fave series, and now, the creators have shared the second.

Over the weekend, the reboot’s official Instagram introduced the nine main cast members and the characters they’ll be playing. Each post also offered a one-word description of their personalities.

Among them is Rookie founder Tavi Gevinson, AKA Kate Keller, whose description simply reads, “Ambition”. Other cast members include Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott (“Perspective”), Evan Mock as Akeno ‘Aki’ Menzies (“Innocence”), Eli Brown as Otto ‘Obie’ Bergmann IV (“Privilege”), Emily Lind as Audrey Hope (“Grace”), Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe (“Freedom”), Zión Moreno as Luna La (“Style”), Savannah Smith as Monet de Haan (“Power”), and Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway (“Influence”).

The new season, which started filming in October, is set to be released in summer 2021. Described by the show’s producer Joshua Safran as an “extension” of the original Gossip Girl, it will be set eight years after the first series ended. The OG narrator and voice of Gossip Girl herself, Kristen Bell, is the only original cast member confirmed to return. You can expect more iconic Gossip Girl looks though, as the show’s original stylist, Eric Daman, is also returning for the reboot.

Look back at the musical moments that defined Gossip Girl here.
