Despite the fact that the singer does not appear in the film’s IMDb page, observant fans noticed that her name popped up alongside Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, and others as part of the official cast for the next installment of the superhero franchise. Disney, Marvel Studios, and Rihanna are yet to address the rumour which had fans excitedly posting on Twitter. “Rihanna’s gonna be in Black Panther 2 ??? I'm deffo looking forward to this,” one said while another said: “I’M BOUT TO PASS OUT”. Black Panther fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel ever since the first installment of the franchise hit cinemas in 2018 to broad critical acclaim. The film broke the record for the biggest February opening weekend ever, as well as landing fifth best opening weekend of all time in the US, and became the most tweeted about movie in the year of its release. Filming for the sequel Black Panther II was delayed after the original lead, Chadwick Boseman, tragically died from cancer in August 2020.
