The Mean Girls cast have reunited and want you to vote

Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and more have released a surprise reunion video encouraging fans to vote in the November elections

The Mean Girls cast have reunited to encourage fans to vote in the upcoming US election.

The virtual cast reunion included Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Tim Meadows, Ana Gasteyer, and more on a video call shared to journalist Katie Couric’s Instagram page, with the caption: “Something fun for this tumultuous time.”

Coinciding with Mean Girls day on October 3, the cast reminisced about their experiences on set, including how Jonathan Bennett (who plays teen heartthrob Aaron Samuels) was “brought in last minute” because the original actor who landed the role was fired.

Speaking of the future of Aaron and Lindsay Lohan’s Cady Heron, creator Tina Fey said: “I think they’re Facebook friends. I don’t think they ended up together. I wouldn’t want characters who met in high school to end up together. I hope they lived a little more than that.”

Lacey Chabert, who played Gretchen Wieners, also encouraged fans to go vote, saying: “Vote on November 3. That would be so fetch.”

Last month, Pillsbury (the brand behind Toaster Strudels) released a limited edition Mean Girls version of its product, featuring Gretchen on the packaging and pink icing. If you didn’t manage to get your hands on one, Lohan is selling personalised Mean Girls quotes for fans on Cameo. There’s also a Mean Girls musical in the works, produced by Fey herself.
